Memorial Day

On Memorial Day this year, Ruben and I spent the day hauling Stan and Jan Asay's cows. It was a beautiful day. We picked the cows up at the Asay's and took them to Pryor Mountain. What awesome scenery! It is a long drive, but I enjoyed being with Ruben and no children! Thank you Granny! Truckin' cows is one of Ruben's favorite hobbies and I enjoy going along for the ride.

Here they come!

All finished and on our way home!

Whitney's Award

Today the school had an assembly to hand out awards and show a slide show of the kids throughout the year. This year Whitney won a special award. It is called the President's Award for Educational Achievement-Outstanding Academic Achievement. The award is presented to those kids who have worked hard all year long with a positive attitude and who have made great achievements. We are so proud of Whitney and all that she has accomplished!

Daniel's 1st Communion

What a handsome young man! Daniel had his 1st communion on Sunday May 17th, 2009. We were all able to attend except Aunt Maricella. I was excited to take my girls to experience a different religion. Afterwards, the ladies at the church fed everyone and their families. What a yummy breakfast. They had sausages rolled up inside of pancakes, scrambled eggs, homemade tortillas, fruit and drink. They also had a cake made. It was wonderful! It was a very good day with great weather and great people!

Circus Day!

Abby's preschool had their annual Circus Day on Thursday May 14th, 2009. The teachers set out all of the booths that are usually used at the Halloween Carnival and sometimes some new ones. They also have popcorn and a snowcone machine. The teachers give the kids the same amount of tickets that there are booths. The kids get to go around and play the games and recieve prizes. They absolutely love Circus Day!

Whitney's 1st Piano Recital

Whitney has been in piano for the last 3 years, but this is her first recital. I'll explain why. The first year she was jumping on the trampoline, and got her leg stuck, and fell off and broke her leg. It was two days before Mother's Day that year. Well, it wasn't just any ordinary brake. She had to have surgery. The orthopedic surgeon had go in and put two long screws in to hold the two bones together where it broke. It broke right below her knee and through her growth plate. Yes, she did it well! So, she got out of that piano recital. The next year rolled around and it was sometime in March, she tripped over the projector cord in the classroom and yep you guessed it! She broke her right arm! Not even 1 year later than her leg! It was like 10 months later! Ok, so we have labeled her accident prone. We were beginning to think she was doing this to get out of having to do the piano recitals! :) But not this year! She made it the whole year without any injury. Yay!

This is Whitney's piano teacher Ruth Hammond. Whitney did an excellent job! She played the song called 'Boogie Woogie Goose'. She didn't even mess up once! I remember my piano recitals very well. No matter how much I had practiced and memorized, I still got nervous and would mess up at least once or twice. I am so proud of Whitney and how far she has come. I love you Bug! (That's what her daddy calls her)

Fun Day!

Tug of War....girls against boys!
The Girls ROCKED!!!

Whitney and Alyssa pulling as hard as they can!

Here they were in a big long line. They had to hold hands and move the hula hoop through them without letting go of eachothers hands.

This was the beginning of the obstacle course. You had to put the ball between your knees and hop around the bendy poles and role the ball back to the beginning.

This was the second step in the obstacle course. Whitney had to walk over the board as it rocked down to the other side.

Then she had to army crawl through the maze.

The last step was to throw bean bags across the fence and try and make it into the hoops. All of the kids got to go and eat some lunch and then walk down to the hyart for a movie in the afternoon. The girls were completely worn out by the time they got home from school. They told me they had a good time though.

Goodbye Day!

Wednesday, the 20th of May 2009, was Abby's goodbye day at her preschool. She will be moving on to the 4 year old class next fall which is taught by Gail Collins. Abby's teachers this year were Teacher Blanca, Teacher Abby, and the cook who fed them all delicious meals everyday, is Cooker Sandy. She took them each a carnation and a card to tell them thank you for a great year. Abby had a wonderful year and is looking foward to when she can go back to school!

Zoo Montana....field trip

I got to go to Billings with McKenna's class to Zoo Montana. We left Lovell at around 8:30 and got back home at 3:00. It was a very hot, fun filled day! We got to the Zoo and got our assigned groups. We took about an hour to walk through the Zoo and try and get a look at the animals. We were successful at seeing some of them and not so successful at seeing others. Oh well, it was fun any way just to walk through and enjoy the beautiful scenery. At 11:30, it was lunch time. Yay! We were all very hungry and tired and hot! We all grabbed our lunches and went over by the little park area at the Zoo and ate. After the kids were done eating, they had a choice to either walk back through the park or just hang out and play on the equipment. Our group just hung out and played. I am glad I went and spent the day with McKenna.

Patrick's 22nd Birthday Celebration!

My brother turned 22 on May 13th, 2009! Wow! How time flies! I remember when we brought Patrick Joel Smith home. What a blessing he was and is to our family. Twenty two years ago, when he was 2 weeks old, my mom, dad, and I drove to Helena, Montana to pick up this little guy. I was 9 years old We had waited so long for him! They didn't really enforce seat belt laws back then, so I being the 'Big Sister' got to hold him the entire ride home! I remember and loved every minute of it! He was such a beautiful baby. He had dark, olive skin and black hair, and later came those big, blue eyes. We were so excited to have this little spirit join our family. We love you Pat!

Pat and all of his friends. My brother wanted to go to Five Springs to have his birthday celebration with his family and a few friends. So we packed up the food, a lot of it, and headed to the mountain. It was such a nice evening. Hardly any bugs and the temp was perfect, and it was very peaceful. Ed and Ruben barbecued hamburgers and hotdogs while we prepared the rest. There were baked beans, chips and dip, fruit salad, deviled eggs, and all of the fixings. Of course, for desert, we had birthday cake and smores! It was all very delicious! Thanks to my grandma, mom, Mary Alice, Eddy, and Ruben for all of their help. Family and friends are great to be with!

Mother's Day Gifts

I made these for my nursery kids to give their moms on Mother's Day! It has a really cool poem, which I will post, and a pack of six flowers.

'God's Garden'

By: Myrtie Fisher Seaverns

When the wise God planted His garden, scattering the seeds from above,

The choicest seed in His packet-was the flower of Mother-love.

Carefully watched o're and tended, nurtured by the sunshine and shower,

Ever growing sturdy and stronger, It blooms-a beautiful flower.

A flower so sweet and entrancing, Dazzling and shining and white,

A love that guards us and guides us, through life~our beacon light.

A love that steadies our footsteps, that stretches a helpful hand,

That comforts our sorrows and heartches, that always will understand.

Mother-love, God's gift to his children, with heavenly fragrance fraught;

The brightest flower in God's garden, His truest forget-me-not.

I got this wonderful suprise from my BFF for Mother's Day! She is so creative and thoughtful! I thought this cookie bouquet was awesome, and it didn't hang around long. I had 4 extra helpers to enjoy it! Thank you so much Candida for your cool gift!

Doing the 'Hot Lunch Jam'

They are doing a song called 'Katy's Song' in sign language. It was a very neat song.
Their program was on Thursday, May 7th 2009, at 7:00. They are directed by Chauna Bischoff. They all did an excellent job. The fourth grade also performed with the 5th grade. The theme of the program was 'We Celebrate America!'
